WORK + PLAY  2013

Installation at the Scottsdale Quarter, Scottsdale, Arizona. On view from December 2013 - October 2014. This project was commissioned by Scottsdale Public Art through the IN FLUX Initiative.

Inspired by harvest time, factory assembly lines, yarn balls, vintage toys, birds, tools, and the secret compartment in the wooden desk made by my grandfather during my childhood, this storefront installation resembles a playful workshop setting. The space appears as if it was left in the process of assembly or in the joyful disarray of play-presenting a whimsical and fictional space inhabited by wooden birds, amidst a carefully composed chaos. The viewer is invited to invent a possible story for the scene, drawing their own lines between work and play.
